The Rural Electric Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship program will be offered at the new Lineworker Electric Power Training Facility on the CNM Rio Rancho Campus. Participants will learn basic technical skills and required certifications in CPR/First Aid, Class A Commercial Driver License and OSHA. The development of the program is a partnership between CNM Ingenuity, New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the 12 rural cooperatives.
The pre-apprentice program consists of three phases:
- hands-on lab, and
The hands-on instruction builds skills to be a successful lineworker like selecting the correct equipment, learning the function of various electrical apparatuses, and rigging applications. Participants are also required to complete 240 hours of internship.
