CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel

For many years, the CNM Workforce Training Center hired employees into the “casual pool”, meaning they were hired as a CNM employee and given assignments as needed for Workforce Training needs. Beginning December of 2018, employees in the casual pool will no longer be CNM employees, but will be paid directly through CNM Ingenuity.
This group of employees will make up the new CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel. Payroll for these positions will now be managed through a new payroll processing system, called Paycom.

Two groups are affected by this change:

  1. Current CNM Employees who perform work for CNM Ingenuity as a secondary assignment to their full-time role.
  2. Employees hired solely as instructors or part time employees through the Casual Pool.

Why This Change is Happening

The work done by the CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel is of high quality and significant value to our community. It is also sporadic, often unique, on a highly variable schedule, customized and typically short in duration. The capacity to provide this training is paramount to our community, but sometimes limited because it is administratively burdensome. Moving to a direct hire at CNM Ingenuity allows these roles to be managed with significantly less overhead and in a more agile manner to meet customer expectations.

This move will use Paycom, a leading payroll system that helps automate and simplify the process for both CNM Ingenuity and the Employee at all steps. The move allows flexibility and agility in alignment with the training roles, that are infrequent and sporadic, in hiring, assignment of work, collection of key information, pay and processes. The work done by the CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration personnel will not have withholdings for ERB, although it is subject to standard withholdings. Given the infrequent, sporadic nature of these roles, it allows the employee to retain more of their pay, reduces costs and complexity for CNM, and allows for quick and agile response for training opportunities.

What to Expect

Employees in the Casual Pool will receive a Separation Letter and a Request to Rehire via email by December 14, 2018. If you are in this pool, you will have until June 30, 2019 to complete and return these documents. You may be contacted sooner if you have an active or planned assignment so that we can transition you to the CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel team prior to your assignment.

Should you choose, you will be rehired by CNM Ingenuity. You will complete an I-9, W-4 and Direct Deposit instructions. These completed documents are a requirement of your continued work for CNM Ingenuity.

You are welcome to attend an information regarding this transition:

Additional times may be added.

First Paychecks via Paycom

Beginning with the December 22, 2018 payroll period, your payroll information will be managed by CNM Ingenuity’s payroll processing company, Paycom. If you work for CNM Ingenuity during this period, your first paycheck will be direct deposited on January 11, 2018. As a part of your onboarding into CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration, you will receive training in using the Paycom application. It is simple and intuitive, and assistance will be available.

CNM Employees on Secondary Assignments

For CNM Employees who also have a casual pool assignment, in the past, these assignments were classified as secondary assignments to your primary role at CNM. As of December 22, 2018, your secondary assignment with CNM to teach in the WTC Casual pool will be separated, and you have the option of joining CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel to continue to work in the same capacity as you have in the past.

VERY IMPORTANT: THIS DOES NOT IMPACT ANY OTHER ASSIGNMENTS AT CNM.

As a CNM Employee, we have reached out to your current management to let them know of this transition. It is the expectation when you are in the CNM Ingenuity Workforce and Administration Personnel, as it was when this work was a secondary assignment, that you notify your manager and CNM Ingenuity if there are any conflicts in scheduling and that your primary responsibility is to your primary role at CNM.

You will be now employed by CNM Ingenuity in a workforce training or administration role and your hours will not be subject to ERB withholding; you will be using a separate payroll system for the recording and approval of your work. You will be on the same pay calendar as CNM, but your hours will now be put into Paycom. You will be required to use electronic deposit, and you will be paid from CNM Ingenuity electronically. The details will be trained as you are brought onboard CNM Ingenuity Workforce.

If you have accepted an assignment at the end of December into January, or a longer term assignment that carries over the year, please contact the CNM Ingenuity Program Manager you are working with and make sure they are aware. Otherwise, there is not a rush, CNM Ingenuity will onboard employees over the next several months prior to new work assignments becoming available if you choose to be a part of the CNM Ingenuity Workforce.
