CNM Ingenuity’s Home Maintenance & Repair program will teach you the basics of taking care of residential homes. This includes seasonal maintenance to buildings and grounds as well as simple, non-structural repairs to walls, doors, windows, porches, decks, steps, and siding. By the end of the program, you will be prepared to work for a property maintenance company or go into business for yourself as a handy-person. The program is also perfect for homeowners who want to take better care of their own property.
This program introduces participants to the fundamentals of basic electricity, proper pole climbing techniques, proper use and care of PPE, safe work practices, basic knowledge of the function of the power grid, and general knowledge necessary to prepare them for a career in the electrical linework industry. The course combines classroom time and fieldwork in the outdoor lab at the CNM Rio Rancho campus with a strong emphasis on outdoor lab work.
The Green Building Internship program provides hands-on coursework along with paid internships for CNM students and community members. Students and interns work side by side with experienced builders and talented educators to create energy efficient and cost effective homes in the neighborhoods near CNM’s main campus.
New Mexico’s solar development is expected to double in the next five years, and with it there will be a huge increase in demand for trained solar technicians and electricians. Ingenuity offers a short course that introduces the fundamentals of solar energy as well as a 60 hour prep course for NABCEP’s Solar Associate credential.
