Transitioning to Teaching the Trades

Train the Trainer is a hands-on program designed for skilled trades professionals interested in teaching at a community college. If you are nearing retirement or recently retired from a skilled trade and interested in sharing your expertise with the next generation, join us for this training and learn how to transition your industry experience into the classroom.

What You'll Learn

Through the Train the Trainer program, participants gain practical skills for transitioning into teaching roles at community colleges, including:

  • How to translate real-world trade experience into classroom instruction 
  • Effective teaching strategies for adult learners 
  • Curriculum basics and lesson planning 
  • Lab and safety preparation in the classroom 
  • Opportunity to take OSHA-10 

Who Should Attend

Trades professionals who are nearing retirement, planning to retire, or recently retired and interested in becoming instructors at community colleges.
