  • Basic data entry and formatting: Entering data, applying formulas, and formatting cells
  • Creating and using formulas: Understanding basic formulas like SUM, AVERAGE, and IF

  • Building simple charts and graphs: Visualizing data with bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts

You may qualify to take the Unlock the Power of Excel: A Beginner’s Workshop Series at no charge if your employer meets these criteria:

  • Incorporated as a for-profit or not-for-profit entity in NM
  • Headquartered within the Albuquerque city limits
  • A business with less than 500 employees
  • Business has been located in Albuquerque for 1 year OR Business owner has been an Albuquerque resident for at least 1 year at any time prior to the time of training

This great opportunity is made possible through the collaboration between CNM Ingenuity and the City of Albuquerque. Job Training Albuquerque (JTA) is a workforce development program that provides opportunities for the local workforce to gain necessary skills in order to fill skill gaps and meet the workforce needs of existing and potential employers.

Instructor Biographies

Desireé M. Stewart is a dedicated financial professional with over 15 years of experience in various financial roles. Currently serving as a Business Administrator at Sandia National Labs and a part-time faculty member at CNM, Desireé is passionate about sharing her knowledge in financial literacy and personal finance. Her expertise extends across strategic financial management, leadership in cross-functional teams, and budget oversight. At CNM, she teaches dual credit high school students, helping them build essential financial literacy skills through engaging and supportive online lessons.

With a strong commitment to mentorship, Desireé actively volunteers with organizations like Junior Achievement, where she helps young adults develop their financial and career skills. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico and a master’s degree from San Diego State University, with further studies at Grand Canyon University. 

Joseph Olonia is a data professional with a passion for solving business problems in Albuquerque. He has developed, optimized, and automated data collection solutions for renewable energy startups and utilities in the U.S. and on military bases. As an instructor for CNM’s Deep Dive Coding program, he teaches data science and engineering.
